One of the most challenging, but also rewarding aspects of my experience with marquetry is commission work. From preparing conceptual drawings and discussions with my clients, to selecting wood grains and colour themes, commission pieces really inspire me to push my boundaries and explore new techniques and styles beyond what my own pieces represent. I really enjoy trying new subjects and styles, and it’s personally rewarding when I can create something that is so unique and special to someone else.
